Leaders In Training

The ChampionsTX Leaders In Training (L.I.T.) Program is a unique opportunity for motivated students in 6th–12th grade to grow as role models, build leadership skills, and gain real-world experience in a fun, active environment. Designed as a stepping stone between being a participant and becoming a coach, our L.I.T. program gives students hands-on experience assisting in classes, camps, and special events. L.I.T.s learn how to work with children, communicate effectively, lead by example, and take on responsibility—all while being mentored by experienced ChampionsTX staff.

The Leaders in Training Program is a leadership development program designed to provide teens with the skills and knowledge to interact and communicate successfully with individuals and help lead groups of all ages. LIT's work hard, have a lot of fun along the way, and parents are refunded with a portion of the camp fee to reward their child.

Our program is specifically designed for three levels:

  • LIT Level 1: Incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders

  • LIT Level 2: Incoming 9th-10th Graders

  • LIT Level 3: Incoming Ilth-12th Grader

Camp runs from 8:00 am- 2:30 pm. It is mandatory that LITs sign in/out on a daily basis. LITs may sign themselves out each day (parents must sign "LIT

Why should you get your family involved
with the LIT program @ChampionsTX?

It’s WIN-WIN-WIN:

  • WIN for Middle & High Schoolers = LITs get a fun and rewarding week of camp!

  • WIN for Parents = Kids get out of the house and spend time at ChampionsTX learning valuable life skills!

  • WIN for ChampionsTX = Part of the reason the ChampionsTX camp program is so wonderful is the ability to grow from young camper to older counselor, never missing a beat! This creates a wonderful spirit at our camps, not to mention all the extra hands helping in all of the fun activities.

The LIT Program focuses on:

  • Social, educational, emotional and personal growth.

  • Teamwork, trust building, and communication.

  • Personal disciplines such as responsibility, patience, altruism, punctuality and persistence are developed and nurtured during the week-long LIT program.

Sessions/Dates:

Camp occurs in week-long sessions during the Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break. LITs are encouraged to attend 3 or more weeks of camp total throughout the season, and those attending 3 weeks will be considered first for the program.

What an LIT's day looks like:

While still taking part in typical camper experiences (attending activities and participating in camp events), the LITs have unique opportunities and responsibilities separate from the rest of the camp. LITs will have the chance to lead an all camp activity and assist younger campers.

. We also ask that no appointments, activities or trips be scheduled during camp hours. If unavoidable, email and notify us in advance!
