Show Teams and Competitive Teams

Gymnastics Show Teams

Our show teams are perfect for everyone who loves gymnastics but isn’t ready to commit to 9 hours a week for an Xcel competitive team! They meet once a week to work on strength and flexibility, training, rotating through all four olympic events (spring floor, vault, bars and beam ) with additional concentration of tumbling on the floor, mimi tramp.and tumble track-trampoline. They will learn combination routines for a couple performances throughout the year! The performances are a wonderful way to practice and build up confidence, as most athletes start off being nervous in front of the “crowd” and we start off smaller and work towards larger performances.  We also incorporate community outreach and giving back as a team! Just like a brownie troop for gymnastics, these are a school year commitment!

Community Outreach

Our teams are involved in the community, like a gymnastics brownie troop, we like to say!  In the past, our teams have been involved with the Blue Santa Parade up Congress, the Austin Spurs HalfTime Show, and visits to Westminster, Brookdale, Querencia, Maravilla, and Belmont retirement homes.

Xcel Competitive Gymnastics Teams

Our girls competitive team prides itself on building great gymnasts from the ground up. We focus on developing a strong technical foundation, combined with strength conditioning, proper skill progressions, and confidence, to prepare athletes for success in competition and long-term growth in the sport.

Our program currently offers the following levels: Pre-Team, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level is designed to help athletes progressively build the strength, skills, and confidence needed to move through the competitive program.

Our Xcel team is a competitive gymnastics program with a balanced training schedule, typically requiring 5.5–9 hours per week year-round depending on level.

Our program follows a year-round training structure:

  • Pre-Season (September–December): learning and refining routines

  • Competition Season (January–May): competing in approximately five Texas meets

  • Off-Season (June–August): focusing on strength, flexibility, and new skill development

This structure allows athletes to continue progressing, building new skills, and strengthening fundamentalsthroughout the year while preparing for competition season.

What is the Xcel?

The Xcel Program was created by USA Gymnastics as an alternative competitive pathway to the traditional Developmental Program.

Xcel allows gymnasts to compete while performing optional routines that are customized to highlight each athlete’s strengths, as long as they include certain required elements on each event. This differs from the Developmental Program’s compulsory levels (Levels 1–5), where routines are predetermined and performed exactly the same by every gymnast.

The program includes the levels Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire, each with its own skill requirements based on age and ability. Because the Xcel program is condensed compared to the Developmental Program, it is common for athletes to repeat levels while they continue developing strength, consistency, and more advanced skills.

The Xcel levels roughly compare to the Developmental Program as follows:

  • Bronze: similar to Levels 1–2

  • Silver: similar to Levels 2–3

  • Gold: similar to Levels 4–5

  • Platinum: similar to Levels 5–6

  • Diamond: similar to Levels 6–8

  • Sapphire: similar to Levels 8–10

Xcel gymnastics begins competition at Level Bronze and progresses through Diamond and Sapphire, providing athletes with a competitive team experience while allowing them to progress at a pace that supports long-term success and enjoyment of the sport.
